What is the current guideline to resume elective surgeries under local or MAC after COVID+ test?

For example, patient is asymptomatic, has COVID+ test prior to surgery, and waits 10 days to clear from isolation precautions.
What is the earliest time period after COVID+ test result we should advise surgeons to schedule elective eye surgery under sedation?

I reviewed the ASA/APSF guidelines but did not see mention of differences between GA, MAC, or local.

Thank you

Hi Tina,
Here is the APSF link https://www.asahq.org/about-asa/newsroom/news-releases/2020/12/asa-and-apsf-joint-statement-on-elective-surgery-and-anesthesia-for-patients-after-covid-19-infection.

These recommendations do not distinguish between GA vs. MAC. However resolving a COVID flag has a range from 10-20 days and it depends on the reason for the test, PMH and current symptoms.
For the asymptomatic or symptomatic healthy human with rapidly resolving symptoms the flag could be resolved 10-days after.
For the symptomatic, immunocompromised, it is up to 20.

You are right , no difference between MAC and GA , it is 4 weeks for asymptomatic positive patients

A 10 day interim is sufficient for the asymptomatic healthy patient with an incidental positive Covid PCR test result.

The ASA/APSF guidelines are independent of the anesthetic type. There is no difference. The potential risk is to the patient.
